These eight currently operating rooftop venues range from sea-facing Mumbai terraces to lake, desert, city and Himalayan views.
“Rooftop restaurant” can mean very different things across India. In Mumbai it may mean sea views; in Bengaluru, a lake-facing terrace; in Jaipur, the Aravallis; in Jaisalmer, the Thar Desert; and in the Himalayas, mountain air rather than a city skyline.
This guide focuses on eight venues whose current official hotel pages identify them as rooftop or elevated open-air dining options. It is not a personal tasting ranking, and it does not claim that The Food Eaters has visited these restaurants.
Marriott Bonvoy’s current NOX listing describes NOX as a rooftop restaurant and bar with views of Powai Lake, European and Mediterranean food, and daily hours from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The defining feature is the combination of a high-rise Mumbai setting with a lake-facing backdrop rather than a purely urban skyline.
InterContinental Marine Drive’s current dining page describes Dome as an al fresco rooftop lounge overlooking the seafront, serving small plates and drinks from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
This is more rooftop lounge than formal destination restaurant, so the setting and sunset view are central to the experience.
Wyra is the Jaisalmer entry in this guide. Jaisalmer Marriott Resort & Spa currently lists it as a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Thar Desert, open daily from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The desert setting gives the list a very different form of rooftop dining from the metropolitan entries.
Courtyard Bengaluru Hebbal describes Nazaara as a rooftop venue with views of Nagavara Lake, serving Indian food daily from 5 p.m. to midnight.
The lake view gives it a stronger sense of place than a generic high-rise terrace.
Le Méridien Hyderabad currently lists Jasper as a rooftop dining venue and poolside grill in Gachibowli, open daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Its format works as a full evening venue rather than only a pre-dinner rooftop drink.
Raffles Jaipur describes Sehara as its rooftop restaurant and bar overlooking the Aravalli Hills, with Mediterranean-inspired food and daily hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
This is the most resort-oriented entry in the guide and moves the rooftop format away from dense city skylines.
Le Méridien New Delhi continues to identify Le Belvedere as its elevated rooftop dining setting, with the current restaurant listed as XO & Mi @ Le Belvedere and panoramic views over Lutyens’ Delhi.
Its central Delhi location makes the city plan and government-district skyline part of the appeal rather than a generic tower view.
Holiday Inn Resort Kufri currently describes The Conservatory as a fifth-floor rooftop bar and lounge with panoramic Himalayan views, open from 12:30 p.m. to midnight.
This is rooftop dining without a metropolitan skyline: the altitude, mountains and surrounding landscape are the main visual context.
Start with the setting rather than assuming every rooftop offers the same kind of meal. Dome is lounge-led; NOX, Nazaara and Jasper combine rooftop dining with urban or lake views; Sehara and The Conservatory are more landscape-driven; Wyra is built around the desert setting.
Weather also matters more on rooftops than in conventional dining rooms. Rain, wind, heat or maintenance can change outdoor seating even when the restaurant itself remains open. Check the venue’s official page and reservation information on the day of booking.
